What's New at PMSA PMSA Charitable Foundation Scholarship Money is Available!
Since 2012, the PMSA Charitable Foundation has awarded $134,000 in scholarships to students of active and retired PMSA members in good standing. The awards are attributed to the success of our Annual Cops 4 Kids Golf Tournament and donations made to our Foundation - thank you to everyone who has contributed!
Scholarship awards that are available:
One (1) $5,000 scholarship
Six (6) at $2,500 scholarships each
Ten (10) at $1,000 scholarships each
The student/applicant must be a high school senior or a full-time student entering their freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior year in college, or enrolling in a full-time trade school. Effective immediately and retroactively, applicants who meet the eligibility requirements and qualifications may apply biennially (once every two years) and cannot be awarded a scholarship in successive years. (For example, if an applicant is awarded a scholarship his/her freshman year, the applicant cannot apply again until their junior year.)
Please review the attached application that outlines the eligibility criteria needed to apply. The deadline to submit the application and required supplemental documents is Wednesday, May 31, 2023.
Students selected for a scholarship will be notified of their selection, but not immediately of the amount. Awardees and their immediate family members will be invited to our second annual scholarship awards banquet tentatively scheduled for July 14, 2023 (pending location verification). At the banquet, awardees will learn of their award amount.
This year we are happy to announce that our Charitable Board has begun initiatives to expand our efforts, increase our awards, and begin to have a greater impact on our community. The first event taking place to fund these efforts will be our Inaugural LVPMSA Charitable Foundation / Cops 4 Kids Charity Poker Tournament. The event will take place on Friday, May 5th, at the Moon Nightclub inside the Palms Casino. Plans for this event are already exceeding our expectations, and we would love for as many of you to come participate as possible. Further information can be found by going to https://www.charityseriesofpoker.org/pmsa48/. So please come out for a fun night of poker and help support our fundraising goals!
As part of our expansion effort into the community, we will begin awarding scholarships to graduating high school seniors in our community along with our wonderful member's children. Our goal is to partner with a different high school each year and under identical academic requirements, give children in our community an opportunity to further their education with our assistance. These graduating seniors will also be invited to our awards banquet to celebrate their achievements alongside us. This is our way of giving back and building stronger relationships with the future generation. This year we are proud to announce the first school we are partnering with is Western High School.
Scholarship awards that are available to these graduating seniors:
One (1) $5,000 scholarship
Four (4) at $2,500 scholarships each
Five (5) at $1,000 scholarships each
