On Monday, August 23, 2021, Sergeant Doug King passed away from complications from Covid-19. The Las Vegas Police Managers and Supervisors Association is heartbroken over this loss of such a good man, father, husband, friend, and hero from our lives.

“On July 29, 2020, Lieutenant Erik Lloyd of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department succumbed to complications arising from his fight with Covid-19.
Lt. Lloyd leaves behind his beloved wife Minddie, two daughters, Cassie and Stephane, five grandchildren, and over thirty nieces and nephews. We extend our deepest condolences to the Lloyd family as they navigate this harrowing loss.

Officer Charleston Hartfield |

Officer Charleston Vernon Hartfield joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on January 18, 2006 and worked in Patrol Division until 2015 before he transferred to the Project Management and Video Bureau. As an 11-year Veteran of the LVMPD, Officer Hartfield assisted in the development of a memorial wall that is dedicated to fallen officers inside of the Southeast Area Command. He also authored his first book about his life as an officer. Officer Hartfield was a decorated, 16-year US Army Combat Veteran. In 2003, Officer Hartfield served with the 82nd Airborne Division in Iraq. At the time of his passing he was assigned as First Sergeant with the Nevada Army National Guard's 100th Quartermaster Company. On October 1, 2017 Officer Hartfield was attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas with his wife and was shot while taking off-duty action to rescue citizens during the shooting. He died on scene. He was 34.

Officer Alyn Beck |

Officer Alyn Ronnie Beck joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on August 21, 2001 and served in the Patrol Division as well as several training assignments. Officer Beck became a Field Training officer in 2006 and continued his passion to train by becoming an Academy Training Instructor in 2007. He was renowned by those he trained as a tough and tenacious instructor in defensive tactics, MACTAC and strength training. In 2014, he returned to the Patrol Division serving in the Northeast Area Command while he advanced through the promotional process to become a sergeant. On June 8, 2014 Officer Beck and his partner Officer Igor Soldo were ambushed and fatally wounded by two armed suspects. Officer Beck was 41.

Officer Igor Soldo joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on April 9, 2006. He was a graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and known as an avid Cornhuskers fan. During his time at LVMPD, he served in the Patrol Division as well as working in the Problem-Solving Unit at Northeast Area Command. He was a Firearms Instructor since 2008 and taught several academies at the range. Soldo was a native of Bosnia, but his family left the war-torn country and moved to Nebraska to build a better life when Officer Soldo was young. He was well traveled and became a voracious reader and had a passion for knowledge. On June 8, 2014 Officer Soldo and his partner Officer Alyn Beck were ambushed and fatally wounded by two armed suspects. Officer Soldo was 31.

Sergeant Henry Prendes |

Sergeant Henry Prendes joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on February 26, 1991. He was a deeply religious man who carried a Bible with him in his patrol car. On February 1, 2006, Sergeant Prendes responded to a report of a violent family disturbance. As he entered the residence he was ambushed and shot by a suspect armed with an assault rifle. Sergeant Prendes died at the scene. A gun battle between the suspect and other officers ensued, during which the suspect was also shot and killed. Sergeant Henry Prendes was 37.
